Using The Shape Tool (Filled Rectangle)

Select the shape tool and press to open the settings.
 

Choose 'Rectangle' from the 'Shape' menu.
 

Choose 'Filled' from the 'Fill' menu.
 

The choose a brush from the 'Stroke' menu.
 

When you are finished with these settings, press the 'Done' button.
 

Press and hold the spacebar or to begin drawing.
 

Use to move the cursor around the screen creating your shape.
 

When you are finished release the spacebar or (at this time the stroked brush will be applied).
